Anti-Racist Pedagogy in Action: First Steps (Online)

09/23/2021 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Do you want to transform your pedagogy, and impact teaching and learning at Columbia? Join the CTL and your Columbia colleagues for this 90-minute introductory session: Anti-Racist Pedagogy in Action: First Steps.

Participants will be introduced to anti-racist pedagogy as a framework for teaching and learning, connect this framework to their own teaching contexts, participate in a communal reflective practice around anti-racist pedagogies, and collaborate in breakout rooms with their colleagues. To best prepare for engaging in this session, we ask that participants read through the CTL’s online resource: Anti-Racist Pedagogy in Action: First Steps ahead of the session.

(Please note: We ask that you attend this introductory session as a prerequisite for subsequent sessions in this series. If you are unable to participate in this introductory session but would like to participate in subsequent sessions in the series, we ask that you complete an asynchronous worksheet, as the subsequent sessions build off the reflections in this introductory session. While we will not ask that you share your worksheet responses in any way, the reflective prompts and material on the worksheet informs the content of the subsequent sessions.) Register here

After attending this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify five actions to enact an anti-racist pedagogical practice
  • Articulate a plan for cultivating an anti-racist pedagogical practice
  • Engage with the iterative process of critical reflection
  • Participate in subsequent workshops in this anti-racist pedagogy workshop series
