Yu-Shan Cheng earned her B.A. in Chinese Language and Literature as well as Teaching Chinese as a Second Language from National Taiwan Normal University. She received her M.A. in Applied Linguistics from Boston University. She has taught Chinese at all levels, from 1st year Chinese to 5th year. Prior to coming to Columbia University, she taught at Boston University (2 years) as well as Princeton in Beijing (2 years). Her research interests include second language assessment, curriculum design, and second language acquisition. She is also a candidate of ACTFL Chinese Oral Proficiency Interview tester.
