SUMMARY:2023-24 TCSOL Certificate Program Info Session
DESCRIPTION:The Certificate Program in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL)\, co-sponsored by \n\nthe Center for International Foreign Language Teacher Education (CIFLTE) at Teachers College\, Columbia University\,\nthe Chinese Language Program in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Columbia University\, and\nWeatherhead East Asian Institute at Columbia University\,\n\nprovides state-of-the-art training in Chinese pedagogy. Developed and taught by a world-class team of experts\, the program offers a cutting-edge curriculum that sets trainees on a fast and efficient track to gain the knowledge and skills necessary for operating effectively in current and future classrooms in various contexts. \nThe program spans over one academic year (Fall and Spring semesters) and is ideal for both pre-service  and in-service teachers looking to develop or enhance their ability to teach Chinese to speakers of other languages. \nThe program particularly welcomes applications from the following groups of people: \n\nCurrent students or graduates of MA programs in Applied Linguistics\, Bilingual Education\, Multilingual Education\, and TESOL at Teachers College or other institutions both in and outside the U.S.\nCollege seniors or recent graduates majoring in Chinese studies\nTeachers from China or other Chinese-speaking regions\nMandarin speakers in the U.S. who are certified to teach other subjects\nMandarin speakers in the U.S. who are not yet certified in any subject\nProfessionals considering a career change\nIndividuals looking for a professional career\n\nChoice of Modality \nStudents can apply for one of two options for participating in the program: Either (1) in-person at Teachers College\, Columbia University in New York City\, or (2) online via Zoom.
