“On the Future of the US–Viet Nam Partnership After the 14th Party Congress”
You are invited to join Ambassador Do Hung Viet, Permanent Representative of Viet Nam to the United Nations, Professor Lien-Hang T. Nguyen, and Senior Advisor for Vietnam Thomas Vallely for a conversation on the outcomes of the 14th Party Congress and their implications for advancing US–Viet Nam partnership and cooperation.
Ambassador Viet will discuss the overall objectives set out by the Congress, as well as new and breakthrough strategies focused on high-quality human resources linked to science, technology, and innovation.
Ambassador Viet brings extensive experience from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam. He previously served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs beginning in December 2022 and has held key leadership roles including Viet Nam’s ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) Leader, Vice Chair of the National Mekong Committee, and member of several national steering committees on non-traditional security, food security, and sustainable development. From 2013 to 2016, he served as Deputy Permanent Representative of Viet Nam to the United Nations, contributing to major global negotiations, including the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
He holds a Master’s degree in Public and International Law from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam, and is a recipient of the United Nations Fellowship for Disarmament.
