SUMMARY:Center for Comparative Media Certificate Information Session
DESCRIPTION:CCM is an interdisciplinary platform that gathers scholars and students from diverse disciplines with the goal of understanding media critically and historically. Examining how the same technologies work in radically different ways across the globe and juxtaposing media practices in Africa\, Latin America\, and Asia as well as in European and North American centers\, comparative media decenters dominant modes of the historiography by highlighting the reciprocal exchange between aesthetic forms\, cultural practices\, and technological innovation. The faculty associated with the Center includes scholars whose expertise ranges from the histories of the avant-garde and theologies of Islamic revival to the political culture of communist China and histories of listening and voice and indigenous media in Latin America. More information can be found here: https://comparativemedia.columbia.edu/ \nThe CCM Certificate program is a great way to build an intellectual community across academic programs at Columbia University and to reimagine your research creatively. If you are interested in becoming part of the intellectual life of CCM\, please sign up for our emails here: https://comparativemedia.columbia.edu/mailing-list. \nAn information session for Ph.D. students who are interested in the Certificate will be held on Friday\, September 30 at 11am at the Stronach Center\, on the 8th Floor of Schermerhorn Hall\, and on Zoom. Please register here if possible (not required). Join via Zoom here. \n\n
