SUMMARY:Engaging Students with Ed Discussion
DESCRIPTION:\nMonday\, August 28\, 2023 \n11:30 AM – 12:00 PM\nOnline Event\nREGISTER\nEngaging Students with Ed Discussion (for Instructors)\nA 30-minute demo sessions for Columbia faculty and graduate student instructors.  \nWould you like a discussion space that encourages student-initiated discussion and fosters classroom community? Do you need a space where students can annotate each other’s images? Want an online platform where you can easily organize large numbers of posts\, such as megathreads with resolvable comments? \nExperience a short demonstration of Ed Discussion\, an online discussion platform that is integrated into CourseWorks and can be used for asynchronous discussions or synchronously such as a backchannel for live in-person classes. This will be followed by opportunities to ask questions and to reflect on how you might intentionally integrate Ed Discussion into your teaching context. Note: Ed Discussion is especially useful for large courses where students are engaged in collaborative problem solving\, posting equations and code\, and Q&A exchanges. \n\nUnable to join us for this demo and Q&A? Engage with our on-demand resource: Enhance your Course Discussion Boards for Learning: Three Strategies Using Ed Discussion. You can also schedule a consultation\, or find other workshops on our CTL events calendar. \n\n\nColumbia University makes every effort to accommodate individuals with disabilities. Contact ColumbiaCTL@columbia.edu or 212.854.1692 for accommodations. \nThis event may be photographed. Note\, if this is an online event\, CTL staff may take screenshots. For concerns\, contact ColumbiaCTL@columbia.edu. \n\nEvent Contact Information: \nCenter for Teaching and Learning\n(212) 854-1692\nColumbiaCTL@columbia.edu\n
