SUMMARY:Graduate Student Teaching Orientation Debrief Session (ONLINE)
DESCRIPTION:Are you a graduate student teaching for the first time\, or looking for guidance on how to prepare for your first week of classes? If you haven’t done so already\, enroll in the Teaching Orientation for Graduate Students\, organized by the Center for Teaching and Learning at this link to access resources on the following topics: \n\nEstablishing instructional goals and an inclusive learning climate\nReviewing and reflecting on TA roles and teaching support\nCreating a policy sheet and first day of class plan\nResponding to common TA challenges and campus resources to help navigate them\nPlanning next steps for teaching and professional development\n\nOnce you’ve completed these modules\, we invite you to join the CTL for this 60-minute\, online debrief session to discuss big ideas from the Orientation modules\, think about the application of these ideas to your specific teaching practice\, get feedback about materials you’ve prepared for the first day of classes\, and ask burning questions you have about teaching this semester. Completion of the orientation modules and the drafting of a first day plan and/or policy sheet is strongly encouraged prior to joining this session in order to ensure meaningful participation in planned activities. Register here. \nThis online session will be facilitated via Zoom by Caitlin DeClercq\, Senior Assistant Director of Graduate Student Programs and Services at the CTL. \nRegistrants will be emailed a Zoom link prior to the start of the session.
