SUMMARY:LC1: Turning Values & Goals into Classroom Practice (for Grads)
DESCRIPTION:\nCTLgrads Learning Community: Teaching with Intention: Turning Values and Goals into Classroom Practice (Part 1 of 2) \nHow do your teaching values and goals show up in the classroom? How does your weekly teaching practice and preparation match your teaching philosophy? This two-part LC helps instructors translate their teaching values into concrete classroom practices through the medium of the lesson plan. In Session 1\, participants surface and articulate core pedagogical values and goals\, explore how these shape teaching choices\, and identify sustainable strategies adapted to different teaching formats – lectures\, seminars\, and labs. Session 2 is hands-on\, guiding participants to translate their teaching philosophy into a lesson plan aligned with their preferred teaching formats\, with time for peer feedback and preparation for classroom enactment. \nThis session is designed and led by Nathan Blackwell and Miguel Ángel Blanco Martínez\, Senior Lead Teaching Fellows at the CTL.  \nNote: this is Part 1 of a two-part CTLgrads Learning Community. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend both sessions. Part 2 will convene Monday\, March 9\, 12:10-1:25pm in room 212 Butler Library. Register here.  \nTDP: This workshop counts as a Pedagogy Workshop for participants enrolled in the Teaching Development Program: https://tdp.ctl.columbia.edu/ \n\nColumbia University makes every effort to accommodate individuals with disabilities.
