SUMMARY:Planning Your Lectures Based on the Science of Learning
DESCRIPTION:\nHow can I plan my lectures to better help my students learn? How can I promote student engagement with course material in addition to listening to my lectures? \nCome address these questions with us! We will discuss findings from the science of learning—activating prior knowledge\, practicing retrieval\, and reflecting—and simple ways you can incorporate them so students can further engage with course material. You will also have an opportunity to draft a plan for an upcoming class session and hear how your colleagues engage their learners during lectures. Register here. \nUnable to join us for this workshop? Engage with our on-demand resources: Five Tips for Engaged Lecturing and Active Learning: The Learner’s Perspective. You can also schedule a consultation\, or find other workshops on our CTL events calendar. \n\nColumbia University makes every effort to accommodate individuals with disabilities. Contact ColumbiaCTL@columbia.edu or 212.854.1692 for accommodations.\n
