DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nRuth Ozeki: Novelist\, Filmmaker\, and Zen Buddhist Priest\nThursday\, 9 February at 6:00 PM EST\nThe Faculty House\, Columbia University\n(64 Morningside Drive\, enter through Wien Courtyard gate on W. 116th Street\, between Morningside and Amsterdam) \nPre-registration is required (click on button below to register) \n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\n\nRuth Ozeki has been selected as 2022-2023 Sôshitsu Sen Distinguished Lecturer by the Donald Keene Center of Japanese Culture. \n\n\nOzeki’s novels have won acclaim for their ability to integrate issues of science\, religion\, environmental politics\, and global pop culture into unique and hybrid narrative forms.  Her most recent novel\, The Book of Form and Emptiness (Viking 2021)\, has won multiple awards\, as have My Year of Meats (1998)\, All Over Creation (2003)\, and A Tale for the Time Being (2013). \n\n\nOzeki’s films include the documentary Halving the Bones (1995).  A longtime Buddhist practitioner\, Ozeki was ordained as a Soto Zen priest in 2010. \n\n\n\n\n~~~~~~~\n
