DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\nFor non-Columbia affiliates\, registration is required to access the Morningside campus. After registering you will receive an email with a QR code that must be presented along with a government-issued ID (your name must match exactly the name registered for the event) at either the 116th Street & Broadway or 116th Street & Amsterdam gates for entry. Please register using a unique email address (one email address per registrant) by 4:00 pm on Feb. 24 for campus access. \nNames will be submitted for QR codes 1-2 days prior to the event. Registrants will receive an email from CU Guest Access with the QR code before or on the day of the event. NOTE: You cannot access campus using the QR code from Eventbrite. \nSpeaker: Juliet Tierney\, freelance writer \nDiscussant: Allison Bernard\, MA Program Director and Lecturer in Discipline\, EALAC\, Columbia University \nModerator: Chengzhi Wang\, Chinese Studies Librarian\, C.V. Starr East Asian Library\, Columbia University \nChin-Tang Lo\, professor emeritus of The Department of East Asian Languages ​​and Literatures of University of Hawaii\, donated his papers to the C. V. Starr East Asian Library. The special collection includes about 600 letters exchanged with prominent scholars in East Asia such as Hu Shih\, Chien Mu\, and Masaru Aoki. As a friend of and a researcher on Lo\, Juliet Tierney will introduce Lo as a multifaceted scholar and a significant contributor to many fields of modern Chinese studies. \nSpeaker’s Bio: Juliet Tierney (陈艳群) was born in Changsha\, Hunan province of the PRC. She graduated from Hunan Normal University majoring in Music. Since 2000 she has lived in Honolulu\, Hawaii. She previously worked as a journalist for World Journal（世界日报）and is now a freelance writer.
