DESCRIPTION:\nSpeaker: Shuang Lu\, Assistant Professor\, School of Social Work\, University of Central Florida \nModerator: Qin Gao\, Professor and Director of China Center for Social Policy\, Columbia School of Social Work \nUrbanization has prompted worldwide family migration. This study examines the psychosocial impact of rural-to-urban migration on youth in China\, a fast-urbanizing country with 268 million rural migrant workers and 103 million migrant youth. Using a multisystemic resilience framework\, this talk discusses how risks and resilience are embodied in the intrapersonal\, interpersonal\, and institutional levels of the daily lives of migrant youth in China\, and potential interventions to promote more sustainable and equitable urbanization. \nThis event is part of the 2022-2023 lecture series on “Urbanization\, Well-being\, and Public Policy: China from Comparative Perspectives” and is sponsored by the Weatherhead East Asian Institute and cosponsored by Columbia’s China Center for Social Policy\, APEC Study Center\, and the Columbia Global Centers | Beijing. \nRegistration: To register to attend this event online\, please register HERE. \n\n\nEvent Contact Information:\nJulie Kwan\njk4371@columbia.edu\n
