

Professor Jungwon Kim’s book, Virtues that Matter: Chastity Culture and Social Power in Chosŏn Korea (1392–1910), received an Honorable Mention for the First Book Prize from the Society for the Study of Early Modern Women & Gender, which recognizes the wide range of excellent scholarship on early modern women and gender published across multiple disciplines.
Professor Ying Qian’s book, Revolutionary Becomings: Documentary Media in Twentieth-Century China, received an Honorable Mention for the Aldo and Jeanne Scaglione Prize for East Asian Studies from the Modern Language Association of America. This annual prize recognizes outstanding scholarly work in East Asian or East Asian diaspora literary or linguistic studies.
