03/22/2022 @ 2:40 pm - 3:55 pm

Room 204, Butler Library, 535 W. 114 St., New York, NY 10027

Are you interested in the research on teaching and learning and how to apply this research to your teaching practice? Join us for our CTLgrads Journal Club where we take a closer look at the research on teaching and learning. This term, we will be looking closely at a series of articles published in Teaching gradually: Practical pedagogy for graduate students, by graduate studentsEach week we’ll look at one article and focus on how we can use the education research within it to inform our own teaching practices.

The CTLgrads Journal Club will be a HyFlex event, you may choose to attend either in person or online via Zoom. Journal Club will start on Tuesday 2/8 from 2:40-3:55p and will meet every other Tuesday through April (2/8, 2/22, 3/8, 3/22, 4/5, and 4/19).

Prior to this session, please read:

  1. Valerie Bondura’s “Chapter 35: What is a participation grade? Inclusive strategies for engaging students and assessing participation
  2. Please add quotes you’d like to discuss and/or discussion questions to our collaborative document prior to our meeting.

First time attending the CTLgrads Journal Club? We highly recommend you read this short, 2-page essay by Lee Shulman “Teaching as Community Property” (1993) for insight into the goals of the series.
