Deadline: Humanities Without Walls Predoctoral Career Diversity Summer Workshop
11/01/2022 @ 12:00 am
Humanities Without Walls (HWW) invites applications for its annual two-week summer workshop for doctoral students pursuing degrees in the humanities and humanistic social sciences who are interested in learning about diverse careers. The University of Minnesota, College of Liberal Arts, will host HWW’s annual summer workshop from July 17 through July 28, 2023. The workshop is an intensive, student-centered career exploration program of values discernment and practical preparation for jobs in a variety of sectors, both beyond and within the academy. HWW’s cohort-based approach emphasizes student agency while giving attendees space to reflect on their professional journey. Fellows receive a $4,000 award, part of which is to cover transportation to and around Minneapolis. Lodging and some meals are provided through the workshop.
How to apply: Eligible doctoral students must be nominated for this fellowship by their home institutions, and each university may make only one nomination to HWW. Students from backgrounds historically underrepresented in higher education are especially encouraged to apply. To apply, interested doctoral students must submit their applications on the GSAS Compass portal by November 1, 2022. Please do not submit your applications directly to HWW. The application requires a short essay, a CV or résumé, and two letters of recommendation.
Information session: Interested students are also invited to the HWW Summer Career Diversity Workshop Alumni Panel and Information Session on Tuesday, September 27, from 4:00 – 5:00 pm EDT. Register here.
