Are you a graduate student teaching for the first time or looking for guidance on how to prepare for your first week of classes? If you haven’t done so already, enroll in the Teaching Orientation for Graduate Students, organized by the Center for Teaching and Learning at this link to access resources on the following topics:

  • Establishing instructional goals and an inclusive learning climate
  • Reviewing and reflecting on TA roles and teaching support
  • Creating a policy sheet and first day of class plan
  • Responding to common TA challenges and campus resources to help navigate them
  • Planning next steps for teaching and professional development

Once you’ve completed these modules, we invite you to join the CTL for this 60-minute, in person debrief session to apply major themes and practices from the Orientation modules to your specific teaching context and to give and receive feedback on policy sheets and first day of class plans. Please complete the orientation modules and draft a first day plan and/or policy sheet prior to joining this session in order to ensure meaningful participation in planned activities.

This session will be facilitated by Caitlin DeClercq, Senior Assistant Director of Graduate Student Programs and Services at the CTL.
