  2. Please do not enter all zeros (000-00-0000) as your SSN. If you do not yet have an SSN, click the “SSN Applied For” option on the form.

SSN

If you are a student, please follow these instructions:

Once you complete the I-9, you will need to fill out the top portion of the this form and send it to us so that we may create a signed hard copy for you to pick up in the EALAC main offices (713 Uris Hall).

You will then take that form to the Social Security Administration (SSA) office and send us the receipt notice they give to you.
Further instructions can be found here, if you are a GSAS student, and here, if you are a Teachers College student.
Once your social security card arrives, please provide us with a password-protected copy of it (back and front, make sure you sign the card) and an updated W-4 Form and NYS 2104OR2104.1 Form for further processing.

If you are a faculty member, please visit this link for instructions on obtaining an SSN depending on your current visa status: https://isso.columbia.edu/content/social-security-number-application#!/%23text-18729

TC Students

Please also note, if you are a TC student, I will need you to request the hiring exception letter from Teachers College confirming your eligibility for on-campus employment right away. This can be done through TC Compass. Please request this at your earliest convenience as I am not able to process your hire without this form.
