The Japanese Language Program of the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Columbia University invites applications for a full-time position as lecturer in Japanese to begin July 1, 2020. Minimum qualifications for this position are an MA in foreign language pedagogy, linguistics, or a related field; PhD is preferred; native or near-native proficiency in Japanese and English; and at least four years’ experience in teaching various levels of Japanese to native speakers of English at the university level. Primary responsibilities include teaching two courses per semester from the first-year through fourth-year level Japanese courses and developing curricula for these courses. High value is placed on ability to work closely with colleagues in the program. Salary is competitive.
