Course Design Intensive for Faculty
04/23/2021 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Are you looking to design a new course, or change the design of an existing course? Do you want to get a jumpstart on course planning for an upcoming semester?
Register here.
Join the CTL and Columbia faculty colleagues for a guided, community experience of the course design process. For this hybrid offering, you will be expected to:
Engage in a virtual kickoff session on April 23 that will orient you to the asynchronous components of this offering and get you started planning your course.
Complete the modules in the CTL’s Course Design Essentials self-paced course in CourseWorks (between April 23 and 30).
Bring a draft syllabus (that includes course objectives, and assessments and engagement activities that align) to share and workshop with colleagues during a virtual session on April 30.
Through this offering, you will:
Apply backward design principles to design (or redesign) a course
Articulate clear learning objectives for your course
Identify ways to assess student learning that align with the course objectives
Plan class activities and materials to maximize student learning and motivation
All faculty with Columbia teaching contexts are welcome to participate.
Please complete the application by April 19, 2021.
